San Felipe Springs (formerly San Felipe) is a municipal course, despite its country club label. It's named after the San Felipe Springs, which give life to the San Felipe River that runs through most of this 9-hole track. This course has tight, narrow fairways lined with trees, and bunkers that test your shot-making ability. Your short game needs to be solid because most approaches will be into small greens, and a slight miss will require an up-and-down for par.

Getting there : Two miles east of town on Hwy. 90.

If you like a challenging coarse but are not the longest of hitters, this one for you. Greens are small and firm but with a higher trajectory they will hold.
There is water on 6 of 9 holes. Not all really come into play but it will get your brain action going.

Great challenging layout. Small greens, very firm. Best approach is to hit short and run up to hole.

Most greens will not hold. Makes for fun golf.

Once you learn how to play the holes; this course can be great fun.

Some are left to right and some right to left approaches.

You will learn to work the ball.

I play every time I come through Del Rio.

    Early tee times are filled.
