The Gabe Lozano facility, named after the original owner, is home to an 18-hole regulation course and a 9-hole executive course. Traditionally the most popular course in Corpus Christi, this public course hosts upwards of 70,000 rounds per year.
The course was built by Leon Howard in 1965 and renovated in 1983. It's a long course that features water hazards on most holes, as well as bunkers in the fairways and around the greens. Despite these hazards, the fairways have wide landing areas and the layout is pretty much wide open, which helps when the wind is blowing hard off the Gulf.
Hole 10 is the most difficult-a dogleg left with water on either side of the fairway and green.
Getting there : Driving south on I-37, exit Padre Island and drive straight to Old Brownsville Dr. Turn left and the entrance is on the right side of the street.
