Often overshadowed by the nearby Crown Colony, Neches Pines definitely holds in own-not only in terms of the layout, but especially because of the price.
Paper magnate Aruthur Temple donated the land in the 1960s, and Leon Howard designed the original nine that opened for play in 1969. Then Dave Bennett came along to add the second nine in 1990.
The front nine plays longer, but is more wide open than the newer back. The feature hole is the 152- yard No. 14, considered by many to be one of the most difficult par 3s in Texas because of its severely sloping green. Do not miss this hole on the right side.
Getting there : From I-59 north, take the Diboll exit and look for signs in town to the course.
