Robert Cupp designed the Arrowhead course, which features long rough and plenty of water and sand. No. 9 is a difficult par 5, only playing 484 yards from the blue tees, but water looms along the left of the fairway all the way around to the back of a well-bunkered green. Big hitters might want to go for the green in two following a solid tee shot. Hole 4, a 427-yard par 4, is rated the most difficult, featuring a tee shot over a small pond into a dogleg-left fairway.
Owned by the city of Amarillo, Comanche Trail offers 36 holes of championship links-style golf at a very affordable price.
Getting there : From Amarillo, take I-40 east and get off at the Grand exit. Then head south for about 3 miles to the course.
