The Challenge at Oak Forest Country Club is the perfect combination of traditional and links-style designs. Set in a valley with mostly flat terrain, the front nine features water on every hole, subtle mounding, narrow fairways, and a welcome lack of trees. The trees come into play on the back nine and the greens are much smaller. A fun course in great condition, Oak Forest is known for its fast greens.
Holes of note include No. 8, considered the signature hole with a creek on the left and a grass bunker fronting the green. This is a challenging 182-yard par 3. No. 18 is a nice ender–playing 576 yards with huge fairway trees that affect the second shot, and a creek that cuts into the fairway in front of the green.
Getting there : From I-20 east, take Loop 281 north to Bill Owens Pkwy. Turn right on Oak Forest Country Club Dr. and the course is just down the road.
