Hideaway Lake's West nine, featuring three difficult par 3s, is the shortest and most unique of the three tracks. The par 3s are all fairly long, and as is the case with every approach shot on this course, your irons must be dialed in if you want to avoid the dreaded carom off the side slope. Ups and downs are extremely tough if you miss on the wrong side. Pay particular attention to the slope of the greens and know where the wise bail-out areas are. The most difficult hole on this side is No. 5, a long-uphill double dogleg with a second shot over water and a very tricky green.
The newer East course, like the Central, starts off with a pain-in-the-butt par 5. The tee shot needs to stay left to avoid the out-of-bounds and tall pines on the right. The second shot is key because you must lay up in front of the creek, and ensure you’ve got the perfect angle to the elevated green. The approach is intimidating–anywhere from a 5 iron to wedge over the creek into a multi-tiered green bordered by a lake on the right. Bogey is good here.
