The Westin La Cantera's Palmer Course is the second of two golf courses at the resort.
It was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 2001, set northwest of San Antonio in the heart of the Hill Country. The property used to construct this course is at many points more severe and undulating compared to the original Resort Course, which was built in 1995 and has since hosted the Valero Texas Open.
One of the Palmer's most notable design traits is the many blind shots off the tee that head uphill. In these cases, it's best to aim at the barbershop poles for a line.
On the 18th, aim at the clubhouse tower in the distance, and with a good drive, you'll roll well down the hill. There is also a good deal of rock outcroppings and stone formations, the largest of which is around the ninth and 18th greens.
While the Resort Course hosts the PGA Tour, the Palmer Course is actually nearly two shots more difficult in rating from the championship tees and has a slope 8 higher, plus a longer yardage as well.
