Laredo's Max A. Mandel Golf Course raises level of public golf on the Rio Grande
LAREDO, Texas -- Opened in 2012, the Max A. Mandel Golf Course is the pride and joy of Laredo.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course is cut through a former farm and quarry over arroyos on the banks of the Rio Grande. In 2013, the experience became complete with the addition of a $2.4 million two-story clubhouse capable of hosting large groups and tournaments alike.
The golf course is a mixture of long and short holes, some double fairways, a couple of blind shots and plenty of scenery. As you come around the turn, the Rio Grande comes into view, just as it from the clubhouse. At 7,069 yards all the way down to 4,759, the course is playable for all levels.
Also friendly to junior golf, with more than ample practice facilities, local officials are hoping the Max will held develop young talent from the area.
