Golf course at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa north of Houston looks better than ever
MONTGOMERY, Texas -- What a difference the last five years has meant at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa on Lake Conroe, just north of Houston.
In 2007, the golf course got a complete facelift from architect Jeffrey Blume. The result was brand new elevated greens complexes, new bunkers, new grasses, reshaped fairways and a much better course.
While the routing remained the same as the old Dave Marr-designed layout, the new course barely resembles the old. Conditioning has also been much improved, but the course remains as difficult as ever. The par 5s represent birdie opportunities because they are reachable in two. But the par 4s are often long with little margin for error.
The key to playing this 6,956-yard course well is to survive the par 4s, take advantage of the par 5s and take your shots on the moderate par 3s.
