Ram Rock golf course at Horseshoe Bay Resort near Austin, Texas
HORSESHOE BAY, Texas - Ram Rock at the Horseshoe Bay Resort is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design from 1981 and the second of three golf courses he built at the Horseshoe Bay Resort in central Texas. Set on 147 hilly acres, Ram Rock is widely considered the most difficult of the three courses at the resort and features narrow fairways, large bunkering and many raised, bentgrass greens. With a 137 championship slope rating, it commonly hosts many of the state's top amateur events.
The course (along with Apple Rock) is located at the new and refurbished Cap Rock facility, which reopened in 2008 after extensive renovations and now features full dining, pro shop and locker room facilities, including a patio overlooking the golf course and Lake Travis.
Horseshoe Bay Resort is located 40 miles west of Austin (also close to San Antonio and Dallas) and is set on Lake Travis in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Like the other two courses, Ram Rock is open to only members or guests of the resort.
